Will's AOL chat from October 1999.

(Thanks Gpigs for digging this up!)

Tvgchat:  Welcome, Will, glad you could join us.
Will Friedle:  I'm here! And thanks for coming!
Question:  Who do you think was the cutest girl on "Boy Meets World"?
Will Friedle:  I think all of the women on BMW are equally pretty!

Question:  Will, what is the best advice that you can give me for starting out?
Will Friedle:  The best advice I can give is follow your heart, continue with what you're doing, but know how difficult this business is and have something you love equally as much to fall back on. For me it was archeology.

Question:  How does your character in your new movie, "H-E Double Hockey Sticks," differ from your "Boy Meets World" character and other roles in previous projects?
Will Friedle:  On BMW I play a goofball, whereas on "H-E Double Hockey Sticks," I get the challenge of playing the devil. It's so much different than my character on BMW that you really have to watch and see for yourself.

Question:  In real life are you friends with Ben Savage?
Will Friedle:  I am friends with Ben Savage in real life. He and I try to hang out as much as we can.

Question:  What is it like being one of the hottest young stars of today?
Will Friedle:  LOL! Is it rude to answer I have absolutely no idea? I don't consider myself one of the hottest young stars of today. I'm just a regular guy whose gotten very lucky.

Question:  Why did you cut your hair?
Will Friedle:  LOL! I cut my hair for the role in "H-E Double Hockey Sticks."

Question:  I have seen you on "Boy Meets World" since I was a small child. What's in store for Eric now that Rachel is not his?
Will Friedle:  There are a lot of changes coming Eric's way. All of them good. Most of them caused by his own stupidity. It's good to play stupid!

Question:  In your last episode, which showed today, did you have fun getting beaten up by the girls and Mankind?
Will Friedle:  It's always fun to get beaten up by girls. And having Mankind on our show was a whole lot of fun. He's a very nice guy. Although taping the episode turned out to very painful.

Question:  "Boy Meets World" is the coolest, funniest show! It looks like so much fun to be a part of, but who's the closest friend you've made while working on it so long?
Will Friedle:  Oh, man, that's a hard question. We are all very close on the set and try to hang out as much as we can. But the people I seem to hang out with the most, for whatever reason, are Rider Strong and Matthew Lawrence.

Question:  Hi, how does it feel that you are now starting a new season of "Boy Meets World"?
Will Friedle:  We are always happy to come back together, because we are like a big family, and every season seems like one long reunion.

Question:  What was your first movie?
Will Friedle:  The first movie I ever did was... what was my first movie? A television movie about five or six years ago called "The Gift of Love" with Andy Griffith. We shot in North Carolina. I was there for three weeks, and I had a lot of fun working with a television legend like Andy Griffith.

Question:  What do you like to do in your free time? (I luv you.) :0)
Will Friedle:  In my free time I really enjoy reading and writing. I play golf. And by the way, thanks!

Question:  Who's your favorite actor/actress?
Will Friedle:  My favorite actor is Robert DeNiro, and my favorite actress is Sally Field.

Question:  What is your favorite "Boy Meets World" episode?
Will Friedle:  Good question. My favorite episode of BMW was probably the Halloween episode with Candace Cameron. She came onto the set and just fit right in with the cast. We had a wonderful time. And that is true!

Question:  Have your parents supported you throughout your career?
Will Friedle:  My parents were very supportive of me throughout my career, but they always made sure that I had something else to fall back on. And they always let me know that the second what I was doing stopped being fun, I should leave. Without my parents I could not be where I am today.
Question:  Do Topanga and Cory get married this year?
Will Friedle:  You're going to have to wait and see.

Question:  Do you have any brothers or sisters?
Will Friedle:  I do. I have two older brothers. One lives out in California with me. The other lives in Brooklyn with his wife and my nephew.

Question:  You're just so hilarious, you know that? Well, what is the best thing about being you, I mean, being an actor? :-)
Will Friedle:  For me, the best part about being an actor is being in front of the audience and hearing 300 people laugh at something that I do. It just doesn't get any better than that.
Tvgchat:  How about 400 people laughing?
Will Friedle:  I guess that would be better!
Tvgchat:  And 500?
Will Friedle:  All right!

Question:  How did you get started, and what advice would you give to those who want to take your career path?
Will Friedle:  I got started in school, doing plays and drama classes. I was then lucky enough to get a job on stage when I was 10 years old. From there I went to New York City and found an agent, started to go on auditions, and was lucky enough to get some. And with more luck, I am where I am today.

Question:  What's it like to evolve and grow in front of a camera during your teenage years?
Will Friedle:  I was lucky, in that I was already past my puberty stage when I started the show. The better person to ask that question would be Ben Savage or Rider Strong, who really grew up in front of the camera.

Question:  What kind of obstacles did you go through before you got your big break?
Will Friedle:  The main obstacle was time. It always takes time to get your first job, and it took me as long as it would take anybody else, I'm sure.

Question:  What is the most emotional experience you've ever had?
Will Friedle:  One of the most emotional experiences I've ever had in my life was when I had to move away from my parents to start the show. It was very hard on all of us. But we all knew it had to be done.

Question:  Were you ever a thespian?
Will Friedle:  No, I like women! I still am a thespian! I started on stage. And it is definitely something I'd like to do again in the future.

Question:  Do you and the cast of "Boy Meets World" ever have disagreements?
Will Friedle:  Very rarely. We all get along so well and have all been through so much together, that whatever disagreements we have are usually settled within minutes.

Tvgchat:  Will, thanks for joining us tonight. Please come back and chat with us again.
Will Friedle:  Oh, absolutely! I'd like to thank everybody for taking the time to write to me. I hope you enjoy the new season of "Boy Meets World." And don't forget to watch "H-E Double Hockey Sticks" Sunday night on ABC!
